  1. Why is this post exclusively titled “for girls?” It’s unfortunate. And if you believe in activities being only for girls or for boys, then one could assume you probably believe the child in the bean bag toss photo to be a boy and therefore not applicable to your post. You could have just labeled it “for kids.”

    1. Because girls can’t wear black and orange…… no seriously why complain, if you like the ideas for your boys just use them. No reason to shame this woman who probably is thinking girls because she has girls. Not to offend people who have boys who enjoy glitter fairy dough and rock painting. My son would think some of these are cool too but come on. No reason to make a fuss.

      1. I totally agree. Adapt the ideas for boys, adults, whatever. Some of the activities just would seem to appeal to girls. Also, there is a post for Activities for Boys. I plan to use both. It’s a great bunch of activities. Thank you.

    2. I normally don’t do this but I have been seeing this “im so offended” bull carp everywhere and it makes me sick . A woman can’t make a post for activities for girls with out people like you making comments like this….I’m so tired of people like you having a problem with everything! Did you ever consider that maybe this woman is a mother of only girls!? I love these ideas and I have boys and girls and plan on trying some with just my girls and some with both genders. My advice for you is to GET OVER YOURSELF! And try be offended by things that actually matter there is plenty of that out there!

    3. Honestly there is no need to make a huge thing about this. Let say a boy wants to do something and you let him make a glitter bracelet. Really. Would my little brother like to do that? No. But at the beginging it says it is for both. If you read the whole thing which obviously you didn’t. Try writing and AMAZING post and people hating on you for it. Good luck and have fun with life!

    4. There is a link for boys activities. Try letting ur child decide what they like instead of u…much less drama I’m sure.

    5. Ya! no reason to argue! plus most boy don’t like girly things or pink things. Most boys don’t want to learn fancy hand writing as much as girls do. But if your child likes to have girly stuff(boy or girl) then make theses and do these crafts with them no big deal.

    6. Omg
U need to find something else to complain about. Ridiculous
Great list of things my daughter would love to make. Thanks

    7. How ridiculous! I specially searched up “activities for girls” because I was looking for things that would appeal to a 9 year old who REFUSES to do things that aren’t unicorn, fairy and sparkle related. Good heavens!!!! I seriously can’t believe we have come to this!!!!
BUT…a huge thank you to the author for such amazing ideas… I now a very long list for my friends daughter which will undoubtedly keep her entertained and happy for quite some time!

    8. All I can say to the first commentor is get a life. For heavens sake there is far more to worry about in the world than this. Thank you Heather for posting these xx

    9. i don’t understand why u had to find something to get mad about. she thought that the crafts would be something that girls are interested in.

    10. This is such a stupid issue!!! If you thought that she messed up why even bother commenting? Honestly, all this stupid anti-certain -gender stuff is so below us. I mean, really?!!! If you.want to use one of these.ideas.for a boy, then just do it for goodness sake! Although I will just say on the accuracy of your comment, I really doubt your boy wants to make the lip balm and princess slime and glitter bracelets. But again, if he does, just buy him the stupid beeswax and glitter and glue and let him do it!!! And I just looked back to be sure, but I see in the first part she actually DOES say it can be for boys, too. You would know that if you read the ENTIRE post. This really isn’t worth out time. Also thanks to the author for putting together a list of great activities for me and my friends in the summer!!!

    11. Look, if it’s not for you, move on. There used to be a name for people who complained all the time (currently called “offended”), the name was crybabies. Get over yourself!

      1. Get real- this is not the 1950’s, and actually if YOU don’t like someone calling it what is is- why don’t YOU jog-on hun.
Simple Pinterest tile I saved, but def specifying for one gender is stereotypical NOW or 50 years ago, not truly defensible.

    12. Mmmm, I agree with you entirely, load of twaddle people who label toys/ activities for boys/girls- THIS is 2019 peo0le, give yourselves a big wake-up, not the 1950’s.
The whole pink for girls / blue for boys attitude – has definitely left the building.
Grow some backbone people. Thank god there are strong women who speak up.

    13. Get over yourself! Complain about things that really matter! Grow thicker skun, you’ll live longer! Do what you need to do and keep your snide comments to yourself!

    14. Seriously…..You are probably one of those people that get offended by everything. Stop trolling and move along if you don’t like it.

  2. This looks like activities for kids. Why gender it? Are you trying to perpetuation the idea that if a boy touches something pink, he will turn into a girl? Or that girls don’t like sports? What was the goal in gendering this post?

    1. Okay, calm down. No one is saying that boys can’t do these things. The person who wrote this probably just has girls who like these things. Typically boys don’t like glitter as much as girls. There is nothing wrong with them if they do.

      1. I believe that Megster has a point in saying what she did because I typically like most of the girl things that ‘girls’ tend to like. I think that she has a point in not trying to make things specifically gender-related because some of the things in the ‘boy’ related topics for them to do is very gender-universal and ridiculous that they made it gender specific. I mean why couldn’t the author of these two particular articles just make one universal article about summer activities for kids. It’s ridiculous to separate children by gender when at this age they like most of the same things. But nowadays everybody thinks that the ‘male’ and ‘female’ and the many variations of them segregating each other instead of making each other equals. But now people are putting this burden upon children making them think that it is right to make each other unequal for the rest of their life.

        1. To say that boys and girls are different is not saying that they’re unequal. They are equally valuable but still very different, and that is such a cool thing! We are not putting a burden on our children by saying boys like certain things and girls like certain things, that’s just the way it is.

And attacking this poor woman for posting this fun list of summer activities is totally uncalled for.

        2. I think you’re being ridiculous and making a bid deal out of nothing and if you want to something on the list then do it. Nobody is stopping you, so stop acting like a child and just do what you want, totally uncalled for, grow up.

    2. No goal here…in case you didn’t see I created a post just like it for boys. I think that both boys and girls can any of the activities on either list. Enjoy!

      1. Thank you so much for the fun activities
I love this post and appreciate your positive attitude. I
Nothing is EVER something that everyone agrees.on, so I just do my own thing and ignore judgemental people.
Also I applaud the fact you even RUN this blog, never mind doing it well.
        Thanks!!!

    3. Nothing, alright!!! Does it really matter?!! Again, this is so below all of us!!! Like my mom used to say to us (which tells you this is ALSO so below us) “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Let me rephrase that for you: If you don’t have anything nice (or practical) to comment, don’t comment anything at all. Why do you all care, anyway? Just drop the b oy/girl argument. Thanks to the author for the great post!

  3. Some people need to grow up and think before they type. I appreciate the summer activity list and it does says (and boys too) but I guess they couldn’t read that part!!! Just have fun with you kids and quit being so sensitive . Thank you again Heather for all these cool ideas!! I love it!!

  4. Calm down,everyone!!!
That’s an amazing list!!! Could you read that part: Gather a few of the supplies for some of these activities that your girls (and boys too) would love.

  5. I have not tried any of these things but I am an older sister and I have two younger sisters who would love to have some of these things to do over the summer. And I’m not saying that boys can’t do this either. I mean, boys can do anything girls can. Well, almost anything. I think that all of these projects can be done by both boys and girls. Heck if I wanted to, I could have my nephew try one of these.

  6. Hi everyone! Has no one who is complaining about the gendering of this post noticed that, well it may say in the title “for girls”, the author never says that boys can’t like the ideas on this list? Also megster, the author is not trying to say that a boy will turn into a girl if he touches something pink! That’s just ridiculous and you can try and take time out of YOUR day to try and do this. Everyone has to stop being so sensitive! It’s insane and it’s not like this is the most important thing in the world. It doesn’t affect any of the people who commented and you could be doing something much better with your life than just sit around criticizing people who have worked hard on something like the author of this article.

    1. I definitely agree. The poor people who work so hard just to have their material criticized by random people who.Have nothing better to do than to just sit around complaining about this type.of stuff.
Hope everyone has a good day!

  7. So happy I found this. FYI there are more similar things like this in Pinterest if anyone is interested.
Thanks so much Heather! Your work is amazing!

  8. Great ideas. I have a 10 year old daughter and searched specifically activites for girls. Makes the search easier and save time reading. ☺

  9. Thank You for such a cool & colorful list. I am a 62yr. old Kid, Mom, Grandma & Empty Nester who loves the Full Spectrum of Rainbow Colors, Crafting, DIY Projects & Thrify/ Consignment Shopping, as I am on a tight budget. These will go over well w/Any Age or Gender. I must check the Boys List, since I can be a Tomboy too. I heyAd already planned to do Tie-Dyes (T-shirts) & I have a pr. of White Canvas Sneakers just for that purpose.
